If someone ordered steamed fish, a side plate of steamed vegetables and hold the rice. Wouldn't you get the message they might have a preference for their meal not to be drowning in butter?

I'd had a treat for breakkie (a large toasted banana cake) and another treat for lunch (huuuuge yummy toasted avocado, pumpkin, mushroom, cheese & pesto sandwich) and wanted something ultra light for dinner. Infuriatingly I would have requested "no butter", but for the fact this is the very same meal I had last week (bar the absence of rice) in the very same restaurant - last time there was no butter.

Even more infuriatingly, I didn't send it back.

Sorry, I'm turning into such a broken record with my failures to order healthy food. Note to self: learn to be more assertive in restaurants!

I'm also starting to spin out and stress about my project. I didn't get any work done over the weekend and I'm now very behind and can't see the wood for the trees. After I'd done so so well last week *sigh*

Oh, that is so annoying! I am the same, I wouldn't have sent it back either, but I know that is the answer. Oh, well another lesson learned, eh?

Hope you do better with the rest of your meals!

I would also be annoyed! That lunch sandwich you had sounds amazing!

Good luck with your project...

I've learned from my vegetarian/vegan friends to interrogate the waitstaff. :) I try to do it in a way that lets them know how much they're helping me, and so far (knock wood), none of them have seemed to mind. In fact, they seem to get in the spirit of it!

Argh, that is so frustrating! As a fellow work traveller, I feel your pain. You try so hard and restaurants can so rarely get it right. I am not good at speaking up about these things either, it is really hard.

Congrats on making the effort, you are doing well.

Look after yourself darl, don't let them work you too hard. Put yourself first (I know, easier said than done).

Hey Ani,

Are you still in Perth?
I'd love to catch up if you are. I was away when I got your last message in Adelaide but back now and on anual leave until Tuesday!

Let me know, we could go for a wander!

I hate that. I usually don't send something back unless it's different to what I ordered, like if I say NO butter then get something with butter on it. It's annoying and frustrating that we have to be so specific with our food.
